Welcome to the Friends of Huruma website!

Friends of Huruma is the non-profit organization based in the United States that supports the Huruma Centre Children's Home located in Iringa, Tanzania. The Huruma Centre provides a safe and nurturing home, nutritious meals, and education for children who, for a variety of reasons, have no family to care for them.
To support the children of the Huruma Centre, we rely on donations from individuals, churches, and other organizations in the United States and in Germany. In Iringa, in partnership with the director of the Huruma Centre, we work with church leaders to identify local sources of support.
Friends of Huruma is part of a larger organization called Bega Kwa Bega (BKB), which is affiliated with the Saint Paul Area Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Through BKB, with Friends of Huruma partners in Iringa and in Germany, we seek to care for the children through mutual relationship, prayer, financial support, and programs that enrich the lives of the children.
